Friendly staff, good view and good food - what more can you wish for?

We stayed with a group of 49 people, there was at least 2 other groups in the hotel - but the catering staff had no trouble providing us with a good selection of well cooked food for the whole week. The bacon was the best I have sampled outside of the UK! We paid extra for a sea view and it was well worth the money.The staff could not have been more helpful, and considering how busy the hotel was - this was no mean feat.Would certainly consider returning.

The Great Father Christmas Walk

For the very first time there will be a Father Christmas Walk along the promenade of Armação de Pêra. What a wonderful way to start the festive season !

All you need to do is turn up at Armação de Pêra in front of the Holiday Inn Algarve (formerly the Hotel Garbe) in your Father Christmas hat or outfit.

Save the date on your diary – Saturday 1^st December 2012 at 11.00 a.m. – you can have a healthy walk and help to raise food or money for the Portuguese Food Bank which does such an amazing job collecting and distributing food to those in need. On this weekend food collections will be made at supermarkets nationwide and we would like to add our own contributions to this collection

Please bring your donation with you. - Preferred items are olive oil and packets of milk, but any dried food items will be accepted. All donations offered will be greatly and gratefully appreciated. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL.

Adults and Children are welcome to take part, as long as you understand that you do so at your own risk.

8th Annual Shoebox Drive for the Elderly

Castelo dos Sonhos registered charity has more than 200 elderly in need living in this area. This Christmas we would again like to help them and we now planning the 8th Annual shoebox drive for the Elderly. The boxes will be delivered by the Castelo dos Sonhos team. We hope you will participate.

Here is what you’ll need to do:

1. Find an empty shoe box. – most shoe shops are only too pleased to give you one

2. Decide whether your gift will be for a man or a woman

3. Fill your shoe box with a variety of gifts (each gift may be individually wrapped) – see suggestions below. Please pack carefully and wrap breakables well.

4. Wrap the shoebox and label for man or women, or couple.

5. Deliver filled shoeboxes to Castelo dos Sonhos or the Holiday Inn Algarve (formerly Hotel Garbe) between 15th November and 1st December, 2012 –

· shampoo, soap, body lotion, bath gel, foam
hairbrush, comb, mirror,

· woolly hat, gloves, scarf, socks, hankies, tights, small shawl

· sewing kit

· shower cap

· torch

· packet of tissues

· face cloth

· comb or brush

· tea towel

· small notebook and pen

· sweets, chocolate, cakes, biscuits – please ensure they are well in date

· Small ornament

· Christmas decorations

· Christmas card

Medicines.

New Ladies Lunch Club at Holiday Inn Algarve

The Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra is delighted to announce that the inaugural lunch of their brand new Ladies Lunch Club will take place on Wednesday, 14th November, 2012.
