“Superb Hotel with Stunning Views”
The wife and I had four nights at the Holiday Inn, using priority club points. In order of luxury in the six continents group, you have Intercontinental, crowne plaza then Holiday Inn. As a 'third tier' hotel it absolutely excels, in cleanliness, quality, location and atmosphere.
We were kindly upgraded into a sea view room, which was clean, well appointed and had all that we needed bearing in mind our aim was to spend as much time lay in the sun as possible
So briefly
Pool is deep, warm and refreshing with plentiful cushioned loungers free of charge, and towels from reception
Food is very good, at the restaurant and the bar, for both breakfast and dinner and well worth the E16.5, and the staff around the hotel are exceptional - room maids do a fantastic job
Location and views are spectacular, and you are right on a beautiful sandy beach, with lovely turquoise seas (albeit 'take your breath away' chilly)
It is very Portugese, as it is were many have 2nd homes, which means the food is very authentic (there is no sign of John Smith's beer or Roast Beef anywhere - hurrah!!), but also very good quality, so generally the busy restaurants are the ones to go to
Tips
1) The Hotel does transfers at 40E for up to 4 people from Faro or a taxi is 60E
2) There is a shop opposite, which you can buy beer, water and juice to stock your fridge, with a bakery next door for croissants pastries etc
3) Barbecue night is Saturday at the hotel and it got rave reviews when we were there
4) If you want something cheap and cheerful but really good quality then go one street back from the promenade and there are some great grills and snack bars
5) If you go out on the promenade head down to near the fishing area and there are some hidden restaurants that serve as much fish as you can eat for 11E or a set 3 course meal with half a bottle of wine for 12E
6)If you want to go on the beach - reserve your loungers the day before as then you will the get front rw by the sea

“Fantastic Hotel & Staff”
My wife and stayed at this hotel in June for the 4th time. We last went when it was called the hotel Garbe. We have booked in the past with tour operators and have also gone independantly.There is certainly an improvement since the take over and we would recommend it to anyone. Where else can you walk straight from the hotel and onto the beach or if you go out the main door you can go onto a wonderful traffic free promanade which takes you to the town which is only a few minutes walk.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we have booked to go back again in September. The staff are really helpful, the rooms spotless and the service second to none. If you book independantly they will even arrange for a taxi to pick you up at the airport.
