Royal British Legion Lunch - 15th March, 2017

The hotel has a splendid view on the ocean.
The rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean.
The big bed is really comfortable.
The breakfast buffet is quite generous and varied.
Waiters are attentive and friendly.
Receptionists are also friendly and let us have a late check-out, free of charge,
internet is working perfectly.
The outdoor swimming pool overlooking the ocean was heated, so I could happily bathe even if it was January!
In this period the rates are definitely high value for money.
The location is lovely, dotted with cafes, shops and restaurants.
I came with my partner for a three-night getaway.
We sincerely recommend it.

Curry in a Hurry - From the Raj Team

Here is a recipe for Chicken Korma, which as well as being quick to prepare, can be cooked in the Microwave and is also suitable for freezing.

700 g  chicken breast (skinned & cut into 1” cubes)
175 g  thick set natural yoghurt
3         cloves of garlic, peeled and sliced
2 tsp    turmeric
1         large onion sliced
100 g  ghee or butter
1 tsp   ground ginger, salt and ground cumin
5 cm   stick of cinnamon
5         cloves
5        cardomons
1 tbsp crushed coriander seeds
½ tsp      chilli powder
1½ tbsp desiccated coconut
2 tsp     roasted almonds

Place yoghurt, turmeric and 1 garlic clove in the food processor and puree to mix evenly.  Pour over chicken and stir well.  Cover and chill overnight.
 Melt ghee, add the remaining garlic and onions, fry gently for 4-5 minutes until soft.  Stir in spices and fry for a further 3 mins.  Add chicken pieces with the yoghurt marinade, stir well.Cover ans simmer for ½ - ¾ hrs until chicken is tender.

Transfer to serving dish and scatter with roasted almonds.

International Women's Day Dinner/Network Reunion

Whether or not you recognise the Logo we will be pleased to see you on International Women's Day (Wednesday March 8) for dinner in the Raj Indian Restaurant at The Holiday Inn Algarve, Armação de Pêra - 19.30. 

You just have to be female! 

We will be meeting old friends and making new ones and raising funds for a maternity project in São Tomé. 

Welcome Drink, 3 course Indian Dinner with wine, and coffee - 25 Euros per person.

Thoroughly Enjoyable

We stayed at the Holiday Inn, Armacao de Pera, for 4 days over the Christmas period, and what a pleasure it was.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, although we did ask to be moved to a room with a balcony instead of street facing and the reception staff were very helpful. Indeed, all the staff in this hotel are pleasant, friendly and professional.
The food is good with plenty of varied choice. The local wines are decent and the drinks, in general, are of good quality - and served with a smile.
The hotel is situated in an enviable position, with a number of steps leading down to a lovely beach. Of course, it being Christmas, everywhere was very quiet and we could walk for miles on an almost empty beach, which was an added bonus.
I would imagine this area is beautiful in Spring and we intend visiting again for a few days in late March.
Well done to everyone at the Holiday Inn for making our stay so enjoyable.

19th Edition of the International Youth Football Tournament

The 19th Edition of the International Youth Football Tournament of Armação de Pêra, is taking place this weekend 10th and 11th February. 2017 in Armação de Pêra.

Once again we are proud to be a sponsor of the event, 
supporting sports practice by the children and promoting the local sports club Os Armacenenses who organises this tournament every year.The tournament will begin with an inaugural parade in front of the Holiday Inn Algarve, and the participating teams will parade to the Municipal football ground, where the opening ceremony of the tournament will take place.
