Traditional Charity Swim on Christmas Day in Armação de Pêra

Thank you and congratulations to all those who participated in the Traditional Charity Swim on Christmas Day in Armação de Pêra. 

Santas started arriving from 10.30am, and at 11.00am a great number of Santas ran toward the sea for their annual dip in the ocean

Three TV film crews filmed the event and interviewed a number of participants. This brought a lot of national attention to the event.  Our thanks to RTP, TVI and CM TV.

Certificates were awarded to all those who got wet and everyone enjoyed a very welcome glass of Hot Chocolate and Brandy in the Holiday Inn Algarve Bar afterwards.

A big thank you to everyone who participated, the media for helping with the publicity, Dave Sheldrake Photography and Diogo Correia for photographing the event  and for all the donations - just under 700 Euros was raised yesterday for ‘Espaço Amigos’ charity in Armação de Pêra and ‘A Gaivota’ in Albufeira.

In order to raise more funds - there is another Charity Swim on 1st January at 11.00am - just the way to recover from the festivities of New Year's Eve - welcome in 2016 by paddling or swimming in the Atlantic Ocean - what an achievement !   Come and join us for a fun-filled Charity Swim .. have a dip in the ocean and help to raise money for local children in need.

Come in your pyjames, bring your swimwear and a towel and go in for a swim - or just a paddle - as long as a part of you gets wet! Then recover in the Holiday Inn Algarve bar afterwards and enjoy a Hot Chocolate. Adults and children are all welcome to take part on the understanding that they do so at their own risk. Please bring a donation and help us to raise money for two local charities: ‘Espaço Amigo’ Armação de Pêra and ‘A Gaivota’ - Albufeira.
