This is my second time at the Holiday Inn Algarve and for a couple who never go anywhere twice a unusual experience, but a last minute trip to kick back and get some sunshine we decided lets revisit the place as we stayed there in October and found it fabulous but were only there for 3 days.
So what can I say, I had a room overlooking the sea so every night went to sleep with the sound of the sea in the background and woke to a view of the beach and the fishing boats returning from a fishing trip.
Armacao de Pera is peaceful in quiet out of season, I can imagine in Summer it is to busy for me but October and April when we have stayed has meant lovely weather, great restaurants, lovely friendly people and a clean long beach.
So the hotel, amazing staff nothing is to much trouble the place is spotlessly clean, the rooms are a great size and have everything you need ( I have stayed in hotels all over the world, Sydney, Tokyo, London, San Fran, New York, Bejing) and like a clean spotless room and this hits the mark, the food is great and if you want to get some treats from the supermarket and take them back to your room its not an issue.
I would totally recommend this hotel, check out the images Ill upload and if you are looking for somewhere to kick back, sunshine, nice bars restaurants but not to crowded and noisy but plenty to get out and sea then book now, you wont regret it.
Room Tip: Get one facing the sea with a balcony, awesome.

10º Festival Internacional de Escultura em Areia - 25th May until 25th October.
Fiesa - the International Sand Sculptures Festival is being held in Pera once again this year. It is the only event of its kind in the Iberian peninsula and given its dimensions is the largest in the world.
Each year the festival is dedicated to a different theme. Idols are the theme of this year, a tribute to various characters admired and praised by our society. Carved in sand you will find icons of sports, from the movies, from music, fashion, politics and religion.
It occupies an area of 15,000 square metres and showcases the skilful and intricate work of artists of various nationalities. In preparation for the festival the artists shape over 35,000 tons of sand during a one month period!
During the day the sculptures can be admired in all their infinite detail and at night there is a varied programme of live music, theatre, dance and circus acts.

Inspired by the natural beauty and stunning light of the Algarve; this exhibition showcases
two fine new talents to the region.

Alyson Sheldrake is a self-taught artist; who now specialises in acrylic painting. Her work is vibrant, colourful and innovative. Areas of fine detail are combined with splashes of bright colour, to create work which is both unique and inviting. From fishing boats to storks and
cockerels; windmills to quaint local churches; a wide range of subject matter are all depicted within her work.
Dave Sheldrake has always enjoyed photography, and has now found a new lease of life for his trusty camera. Working in digital, with only the slightest photo enhancement if required, his work captures the light and landscape of the Algarve region. Beautiful sunsets on deserted beaches; character portraits of local people; and stunning close-ups of a wide range of subject matter all respond to his camera lens.
They are both delighted to be able to showcase their work at the Holiday Inn hotel, Armação de Pêra. The exhibition will be clearly signed, with free parking almost beside the hotel; and the exhibition will run from Saturday 14th April - Wednesday 18th April from 10am to 7pm each day.
The strap-line for the exhibition is 'Affordable Art for All to Enjoy' and you will be able to view and purchase a wide range of original and unique art at very reasonable prices. The artists will be present throughout the exhibition and look forward to meeting you.

In total over €300 has been raised on the quiz nights for the Algoz School for Children with Autism and it is believed this will be used to purchase equipment for the kitchen.
Lynn & Martin would like to thank everyone who has attended the quiz nights this season and given generously to the fund raising. They hope that all had a fun and challenging experience!

Nearly 80 women from all of the various women’s lunch clubs across the Algarve met for their annual lunch at The Holiday Inn Algarve in Armação de Pêra on Thursday last week.
Sheena Rawcliffe, Associate Director of the Algarve Resident, was invited once again this year to be the speaker. Sheena spoke on the subject of ‘time’, something which she pointed out we had no control over, but needed to make the best of. When working towards her A level English Literature, Sheena studied W H Davies and she read to the assembled company his poem ‘Leisure’. Sheena said that whilst we need to make the most of the time we have (for we do not know how much time that is), we also need to take time “to stop and stare” as promoted by W H Davies.
Sheena highlighted that we are fortunate to have been born into and live in countries where our life expectancy is more than the threescore years and ten mentioned in the Bible; unlike those living in places such as Mozambique where the average life expectancy for both men and women can be less than 40 years.
With her usual enthusiasm for life and the topic on which she was speaking, Sheena encouraged all to regret nothing, not to spend time on negative issues (for they will still be there no matter how much time is spent thinking about them) and to live every moment to the full.
Helen Denman thanked Sheena for her talk and said that they looked forward to welcoming her as the speaker again next year.Groups attending the lunch were the Eastern Algarve Ladies Lunch Club, Central Algarve Ladies Lunch Club, As Serranas, Western Ladies Club, Far West Ladies Lunch Bunch and The Algarve Ladies’ Lunch (Tall) club.
