IHG Race Around the World

On 27th July , The Holiday Inn Algarve - Armação de Pera participated in the IHG Race Around the World.

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) globally is donating $1 for every kilometre that one of their employees either walked, cycled or swam on 27th July. 2011 around the world, in all its 4400 hotels, committed to travel.

The goal was to raise $150,000 (150,000km worldwide) support the "Shelter in the Storm," a program that supports communities where the hotels are located in the Group and that are affected by natural disasters, providing food and shelter.

Holiday Inn Algarve participated by organising a 3.8km walk on the evening of 27th July which despite the heat eleven staff members took partcontributing a total of 170 kilometres. Another six staff members got out their bicycles and add a further 130 kilometres to make a total 170 kilometres.
