”“Great location” - Our latest review

Date of review: Apr 4, 2011 Stayed here March 2011. Had stayed here before when it was Hotel Garbe, and always enjoyed it. Since becoming a Holiday Inn some rooms have been completely refurbished, and are very pleasantly appointed. Many of the staff were here before the change, and are very friendly. We always stay in a sea view room. The balcony is small, but the view makes up for it. We were on a bed and breakfast rate. The breakfast is a buffet, and there is a very reasonable hot and cold choice. The dining room overlooks the ocean, as does the bar. Hotel wifi only really available in the bar area, however there is free wifi in the town (cmsfreenet) and this was picked up in our hotel room, so no problems with e-mailng home etc. Since our last stay, the work on the main street where the hotel is is finished, and it is now a mainly pedestrianised area, and pleasant to stroll along. There has been a lot of development in Armacao de Pera, but the sea front still has a 'village' feel about it, and the fishing boats coming in along the beach add to this. It is pretty quiet in March, which suits us. Think it may be very busy in main season. Superb long beach you can walk along, and cliff top walks if you prefer somehitng more challenging. Dined out in the evening, and would recommend A Grehla, Clipper, Restaurant Hera and L'Oasis Pizza.
