Swim for Shoes - Christmas Day, 2010
Congratulations and thanks to all those who participated in the Annual Swim for Shoes on Christmas Day on Armação de Pêra beach in front of the Holiday Inn Algarve (formerly the Hotel Garbe) either by paddling or getting totally immersed in the sea !
Despite early morning torrential rain, more than fifty people came along to take part in the Swim and help to raise money to buy new shoes for children in an Algarve Orphanage.
Father Christmas was well represented - who after singing "We wish you a Merry Christmas" and "A Todos um Bom Natal" ran down to the waiting sea.
Adding to the excitement, were the film crews and journalists from SIC, RTP, Agencia Lusa and Algarve Mais - who filmed the whole event and interviewed a number of participants.
Certificates were awarded to all those who got wet and everyone enjoyed a very welcome glass of Mulled Wine in the Hotel Garbe bar afterwards.

In order to raise more funds - there is another "Swim for Shoes" on 1st January at 11.00am - just the way to recover from the festivities of New Years Eve - welcome in 2011 by paddling or swimming in the Atlantic Ocean - what an achievement !
